Answers are slow

Speed depends on the computer. An NVIDIA graphics card with 6 GB or more is fastest; CPU mode and smaller cards take longer.

The AI runs on the computer the drive is plugged into, so that computer sets the speed.

Why it may be slow

  • No NVIDIA graphics card, or CPU mode. The processor does all the work. Answers arrive, more slowly.
  • A graphics card with less than about 6 GB of memory. The launcher uses automatic GPU memory fitting, which is slower.
  • A busy computer. Large programs, many browser tabs, or a game running in the background compete for memory.
  • The first start after plugging in. Loading the model from the drive can take a few minutes. A blue USB 3 port loads faster.

What helps

  • Close other large programs and extra browser tabs.
  • Use a USB 3 port, and avoid hubs and extension cables.
  • Ask for shorter answers, or split a long request into parts.
  • If the graphics card causes errors, choose Restart without the graphics card in Drive & Help.

Video Studio renders videos on the processor whichever card you have; a 30-second video takes about half a minute to a minute on a recent laptop.
