The assistant remembers the conversation so far, up to a limit. The line under the message box shows how much of the chat memory is used. When it fills up, you see “This chat is now too long for the local model to remember.”
What to do
- Optional: ask the assistant for a short summary of the chat, and copy it.
- Choose New chat.
- Paste the summary as your first message, then continue.
To keep the long chat, choose Save chats or Export before you move on. See Keep your Everyday chats.
Shorter questions and Brief answers use less memory.
